I am disgusted.
I just finished “The Vampire Lestat” by Anne Rice. It is the second book in the Vampire Chronicles. Yes, I know, elite intellectuals scoff at Anne Rice. People think she writes soft porn fantasy. People are wrong.
The Vampire Chronicles are fascinating psychological journeys. Imaginative and going straight to the heart of the most important questions in the world.
Tired of being sneered at by “intellectual” types, I finally googled Anne Rice to see if there was something out there on the Internet that I was missing. I immediately came up on “The Official Anne Rice Homepage.” It’s disgusting.
The blog has 2 essays. The first is an endorsement of Hillary Clinton. The second is a defense of her work, in light of the fact that she converted to Christianity in 2002. I’m not sure which essay was more revolting to me.
I’m an atheist, but I’m not a religion hater. It’s just that it kills me to see someone fall from rationality and stop asking all the important questions. Anne Rice understands history and understands the deepest questions that torment human beings, and now she’s accepted a ridiculous explanation…..and she’s devoting her talents towards spreading her explanation to the world!
I’ll try to articulate this more clearly later.
