Herbietown - Fireworks

I took the boys to see some fireworks on the 4th of July, at Laurel Beach in Milford, just down the road from my Mom’s house. They were super excited to see all the colors exploding in the sky.

But the noise was a little too much for them. It was loud. They both covered their ears the entire time. Jack stuck his fingers in his ears and Charlie used his entire palms. Charlie also insisted on sitting in my lap.

I had that moment as a parent where you sort of take advantage of your child’s fear, because it feels so good to comfort them.

But after a few minutes of heartbreaking comments from him – “Daddy, it’s taking too much time” and “Too loud, Daddy, too loud, it’s SUPER loud” – I walked him home. It’s about a quarter mile to my Mom’s place. He walked the entire way with his hands clamped over his ears.

It was quite possibly the cutest thing imaginable.
